Description:

Are you wondering how to add creativity, amazing literature, interactive activities, technology, self-regulation (and humor) to your classroom, therapy room, homeschool space or general ideas to use with your own kids? The use of wordless books is on the rise as an educational tool and is one of the favorite literacy genres for our talented presenter, tutor, and consultant, Hanna Stroud. Wordless picture books provide immense possibilities to engage every level of learner. This webinar is ideal for educators and specialists looking to make meaningful connections to language, comprehension and writing goals through picture books and wordless videos. All participants will be given a free book list of over 100 wordless picture books and activities to support different levels of literacy strategies. A video list will also be provided with suggestions for using technology in the classroom or treatment space.

About the Presenter:

Hanna Stroud, a popular consultant, tutor, presenter, and author, operates a private tutoring and consulting company in Calgary, Alberta. At My Literacy Space, she provides a multisensory approach to all things literacy. Through her presentations, consulting services, social media outreach, and product development, Hanna, who has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, helps educators discover ways to enrich their students’ learning experiences with engaging activities, effective strategies and incredible book suggestions, increasing their confidence, curiosity and knowledge. Hanna’s previous background as a Special Educational Assistant and Literacy Assistant for the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) for over twelve years has enabled her to work with students with a variety of abilities in one-on-one, small group and classroom settings. While working for the CBE she created a Literacy Centre in her school to provide engaging resources for the teaching staff and to support differentiation in literacy time for classrooms and small group settings. She has begun creating interactive resources on her Teachers Pay Teachers store so that educators, specialists, and families can access affordable literacy resources. Hanna is the lead National Trainer in Canada for Reading with TLC™, a program designed to improve reading skills. Along with the use of other approaches, she has worked with Lively Letters since 2008 and witnessed how quickly her students developed phonemic awareness and phonics skills. A talented and down-to-earth tutor and presenter, Hanna has developed a multitude of activities and strategies addressing various skills for language and literacy, and is anxious to share her knowledge, expertise, and tips with audiences.
