Sensory Integration: This workshop will be led by Susan Larson Kidd, EdD, EdS. The goal of this program is to provide the relevancy of understanding sensory systems, regulation and dysfunction and the impact this has for children in potential learning, social interaction, and behavior. Furthermore, the goal of this program is to help participants acquire strategies and resources in order to create and implement a sensory integration diet or plan for children and youth within home, work, school, or a facility.

Enhancing Phonological and Metaphonological Skills of Children with Highly Unintelligible Speech: An Update: This workshop, offered by HEALTH EDucation Network, LLC (dba HEALTH ED) will be led by Barbara Hodson, PhD, CCC-SLP. The goal of this program is to focus on children with severely impaired phonological systems, including those with the label, Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Information about methods for expediting intelligibility gains is presented in the first two parts, including identification of patterns of phonological deviations, selection of optimal target patterns, and specific information regarding treatment. Because children with highly unintelligible speech frequently experience difficulties in the domain of early literacy, information about assessing and enhancing metaphonological skills is explained in the third part. Assessment results outcome data for a preschool client along with video clips are provided in the last part to exemplify evidence-based practices.

Pediatric VitalStim® II: Beyond Certification: Learn the key components of an effective pediatric VitalStim treatment. This course is designed to take the certified VitalStim provider to the next level in their evaluation, clinical analysis, treatment planning, and intervention skills. The course will focus on building upon the theoretical basis of muscle physiology, kinesiology, swallowing mechanism changes across infancy through adulthood, concepts of electrical stimulation, electrode placement, dynamic systems theory, and more. Through the use of labs, videos, case studies, and group discussion, the participant will challenge and build their problem solving and analytical skills to efficiently and effectively identify and treat the pediatric VitalStim caseload. This interactive course will bring about new therapy ideas and increase self confidence to provide optimal patient care and success!

VitalStim® Therapy Certification Course: This dynamic and innovative program is revolutionizing dysphagia therapy! Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists will bring their facilities to a state-of-the-art-level with certification from this course. VitalStim® Therapy is the only FDA cleared treatment approach that successfully combines Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation and traditional dysphagia techniques. This energetic certification course will focus on topics such as muscle physiology, kinesiology of the swallowing mechanism and on pathological swallowing mechanisms and processes. The basic principles and concepts of neuromuscular electrical stimulation will be taught and the VitalStim® Therapy protocol will be extensively reviewed and practiced. The participants will receive one-on-one attention from two instructors, a certified SLP and a PT.
